Amazing technology

As I lay on the bed (with a pinched nerve in my back, because you know that I'd never get the chance to lay here otherwise!), E ran down the hallway, and threw open the door. As she dashed to climb up on the bed, the ironing board, which rests in piles of dust behind the bedroom door, fell across the doorway and landed with a loud crash.
"That was loud, eh?" I said to E.
"What is THAT?" she asked.
"Ha," I replied, secretly pleased that my daughter is 3 1/2 years old and doesn't know what an ironing board is.
"Well," I continued, "That is an ironing board. You use it with a heavy, clunky thing with a handle; the whole thing gets really hot and it has one flat side."
E said, "I want to know how it works." This is one of her favorite comments lately.
"Well, the iron gets really hot and then you press it on some clothes you put on the ironing board. The iron takes the wrinkles out of your clothes."
"Really?" E asked, with an expression of wonder on her face. "That is GREAT!"
